Exploring The Allure Of Nordic Charms In This Cosy Family Abode

Rooted in clean lines, warm undertones and pared down furnishings, the Nordic interior design of this tranquil family dwelling flawlessly captures the true essence of functionality and simplicity. The communal space exudes an incredibly light and airy atmosphere, paired with earthy neutral soft shades of green and dusty pink for a harmonious balance. Light wood tones accentuate the quintessential feature of the Scandinavian design element, complementing textural layers using rattan pendant light and woven furnishings. Showcasing a curated display of artistic flair and a focal point in the living room, an arch feature wall brings forth a layer of depth and dimension to the minimalistic nature of the space. At the heart of the home, glass sliding doors segregate the kitchen from the dining area, providing a seamless option for practicality without compromising on the sense of spaciousness. Staying true to the theme of the home, a monochromatic palette in all the bedrooms are enveloped in blush tones and creams with a clutter-free environment, making it an utterly dreamy sanctuary.

Interior Designer’s Thoughts

The homeowners were keen on having a Scandinavian design theme that leans towards a warmer hue. Ample storage space and a clutter-free environment was a key aspect in the design brief, hence, the interior designer suggested full height built-in carpentry as seen at the entryway and pantry area. The tic-tac door design of the entryway leads to an additional storage for a shoe rack and store room.  For the love of coffee, a drink station was built to allow seamless spatial flow as part of their day-to-day routine. A sliding glass divider was installed in between the kitchen and dining area to section the space whenever needed, while allowing daylight to enter from the windows. The homeowner requested that an arch feature wall at the living room be built as it is commonly seen in Scandinavian-inspired homes, allowing them to play around with decor and personal keepsakes. Curvatures were incorporated into the carpentry surfaces and edges to create an interesting layer to the design. The selection of materials and textures remained consistent throughout the majority of the home to inculcate a soothing visual continuity.
